Coal

In the 19th century coal, an industry immortalised by pit ponies, canaries and squalid working conditions, powered the Industrial Revolution. Today, coal provides 23% of global primary energy needs, generates 38% of the world's electricity and produces 70% of the world's steel. Known coal reserves are spread over almost 100 countries and at current production levels, are estimated to last over 200 years*

In mines Mackley Pumps prevent flooding and Reader produce specialised grouts and equipment for ground stabilisation.  Stothert & Pitt grab cranes off-load coal from ships; Magco equipment screens, feeds and crushes it; Claudius Peters stockyard systems manage it's storage and distribution and that company's grinding, injection and ash technologies handle it before and after burning. JND meanwhile have developed a means of gasifying coal, promising a novel contribution to clean burning in the future.
