SYDNEY – 15 May, 2007. Piller Power Systems, leading provider of top end uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems for network critical physical infrastructure (NCPI), today announced that it will provide the power protection system for the first Tier III+ data centre to be built in the city of Greater Springfield.
Named Polaris, the data centre will be located in the Central Business District (CBD) of Greater Springfield and will host mission-critical IT systems of government departments and utilities, as well as local and international companies. From hospitals to banks and government agencies, the new data centre will be the hub of the city’s key IT infrastructure and services. Tier III+ data centres offer N+2 redundancy and extremely high security and systems availability. They are typically used to provide the highest level of support to blue-chip organisations, the banking and finance industry, federal and state government departments and large multinational managed service providers.
Jonathan Davis, Managing director of Piller Australia Pty Ltd, said: “We are delighted to be associated with this exciting project which raises the bar of modern technological infrastructure. Clearly, there is a lot of vision and motivation from the various stakeholders to take this project from concept to construction. Some of the design goals for Polaris such as robustness, reliability and cost effectiveness, are synonymous with the Piller Rotary UPS. Fully kitted, this Power House will be one of the largest installed UPS systems in the country. We are grateful to be working with the project team at Springfield and to help make their concept a reality”
