When seven yachts signed up for the first organised yacht race at Cowes, Isle of Wight, off the English south coast on the 10th of August 1826, it is unlikely anyone envisaged that this would become the annual world-class yachting event that is now known as Skandia Cowes Week.
With over 1,000 yachts and 8,500 competitors taking part in some very challenging first-class sailing, Skandia Cowes 2007attracted a wide range of local, national and international entrants, ranging from true amateurs to Olympic and World champions.
Lining up for the last three of the eight day event in August saw the Langley Holdings Farr 45, Atomic of Cowes, carrying the group’s ARO Division livery. The "Team ARO" twelve strong crew managed a third, fourth and fifth in class on each of the days sailed against notoriously tough competition in the Grand Prix IRM class line up.
