Adding their signatures to those of notable visitors to Osterode over the last 60 years, including many of Germany\u2019s Chancellor\u2019s, Mr Tony Langley, Chairman of Langley Holdings plc, Piller\u2019s parent company, and group board directors Mr Bernard Langley and Mr William Langley, were invited by Mayor Mr Klaus Becker, together with Piller Group Managing Directors, Dr Detlev Seidel and Mr Andrew Dyke, to sign the \u201cGolden Book\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"images retain-size \">\n<div><picture><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.langleyholdings.com\/en-GB\/images\/6081\/100-years-tony-langley-golden-book.jpeg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/picture>\n<p class=\"caption\">Mr Tony Langley, Chairman and Founder of Langley Holdings plc, Piller\u2019s parent company, signs the &#8220;Golden Book\u201d of the City of Osterode.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section id=\"block-13288 \" class=\" text-content\">\n<div>\n<p>Mr Klaus Becker, Mayor of Osterode, thanked the Langley and Piller delegation for keeping the headquarters in Osterode and for its close connections with the community.<\/p>\n<p>Langley said he felt \u201c&#8230;less like the owner of Piller and more like it\u2019s custodian, taking care of the business for the next generation and for the next 100 years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He went on to say that \u201cLangley is very much a family business and has the same values as those that Piller was founded on by Anton Piller all those years ago and that these values are shared by the next generation here with me today\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"images retain-size \">\n<div><picture><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.langleyholdings.com\/en-GB\/images\/6084\/100-years-andrew-dyke-tony-langley-mayor-becker-william-langley-bernard-langley-and-detlev-seidel.jpeg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/picture>\n<p class=\"caption\">Left to right: Andrew Dyke, Managing Director &#8211; Global Business, Piller Group; Tony Langley, Chairman Langley Holdings plc; Klaus Becker, Mayor of Osterode; William Langley, Director, Langley Holdings plc; Bernard Langley, Director, Langley Holdings plc and Dr Detlev Seidel, Managing Director &#8211; Operations, Piller Group.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section id=\"block-13290 \" class=\" text-content\">\n<div>\n<p>The party then proceeded to the town&#8217;s Spa Park Convention Centre to address Piller employees past and present.<\/p>\n<p>A photo exhibition of Piller\u2019s achievements, spanning more than 100 years, was on display at the Convention Centre.<\/p>\n<p>The event attracted more than 4000 visitors on the day, as many of the townspeople turned out to join the celebrations.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Detlev Seidel, Managing Director &#8211; Operations, said in his opening speech it was important to his fellow board colleagues and to their shareholder, that they focus on the people who make up the Piller company, as well as the company\u2019s commitment to the city and the region for this anniversary. He thanked the workforce and said how proud Anton Piller would be of the current owners and what they have achieved together with the Piller\u2019s employees, in recent years.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"images retain-size \">\n<div><picture><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.langleyholdings.com\/en-GB\/images\/6089\/100-years-detlev.jpeg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/picture>\n<p class=\"caption\">Dr Detlev Seidel, Managing Director &#8211; Operations.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><picture><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.langleyholdings.com\/en-GB\/images\/6077\/100-years-piller-employees-past-and-present-at-the-welcome-speech.jpeg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/picture>\n<p class=\"caption\">Piller employees, past and present, attend the event<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section id=\"block-13292 \" class=\" text-content\">\n<div>\n<p>Reflecting on the occasion, Langley said that when he first came to Piller, in the summer of 2004 it was a very different situation. &#8220;Somehow the vision that Anton Piller had had been lost, but slowly but surely Langley and the Piller management rebuilt that vision, making Piller the successful company it is today&#8221;. Reminiscent of American President John F Kennedy\u2019s famous 1961 \u201cBerlin Speech\u201d he went on to say, in a warmly received address: \u201cMore than 2000 years ago, in Ancient Rome, the proudest thing a man could say is \u201cI am a Citizen of Rome\u201d. Today, 15 years on from first coming here, I am proud to say that \u201cI am a citizen of Osterode\u201d.
